ACCESS TO JUSTICE
The Ahsas Access to Justice Program is a legal support and rights protection initiative of Ahsas Disabled People Organization (Ahsas DPO), established to help persons with disabilities overcome legal barriers and obtain equal access to justice.
Many people with disabilities are deprived of their inheritance, face illegal occupation of their property, experience domestic violence, workplace discrimination, denial of education, difficulties obtaining disability certificates and identity documents, or encounter obstacles when accessing police, courts, and government institutions.
Legal Awareness
Helping persons with disabilities understand their legal rights and become better informed about the laws and protections available to them.
Legal Support
Providing free legal consultation, case assessment, guidance, mediation, advocacy, and where possible lawyer support and legal representation.
Rights Protection
Working with police, government departments, and relevant stakeholders to promote disability rights and improve access to justice.
Helping Persons with Disabilities Access Justice
The Ahsas Access to Justice Program was established to help persons with disabilities overcome legal and institutional barriers that may prevent them from obtaining justice and exercising their rights.
Many persons with disabilities face difficulties when dealing with inheritance matters, property disputes, domestic violence, workplace discrimination, education-related issues, disability certification, identity documents, police complaints, courts, and government institutions.
Limited legal awareness and financial constraints can make these challenges even more difficult to overcome. Through this program, Ahsas DPO seeks to provide practical legal guidance and support to persons with disabilities who need assistance in understanding and pursuing their rights.
Legal Awareness, Consultation and Guidance
Support may include: legal awareness, free legal consultation, case assessment, guidance, mediation, advocacy, and where possible lawyer support and legal representation.
Each case is reviewed according to its circumstances and available resources. The program aims to help individuals understand their options, identify appropriate procedures, and take informed steps toward addressing their legal concerns.
Working to Protect Disability Rights
Access to justice often requires cooperation between individuals, legal professionals, police, government departments, and other relevant stakeholders. Ahsas DPO works to facilitate communication and advocacy where appropriate to help persons with disabilities overcome barriers to justice.
The program also seeks to promote greater awareness of disability rights and encourage institutions to respond to the legal and accessibility needs of persons with disabilities.
Supporting People Facing Legal Barriers
Persons with disabilities may face legal problems that have a direct impact on their family, property, education, employment, personal safety, or access to essential services. Without appropriate information and support, many may find it difficult to pursue their cases or communicate effectively with relevant authorities.
Through legal guidance, case assessment, mediation, advocacy, and available legal support, the program works to help individuals navigate these challenges and seek appropriate remedies.
Currently Serving District Mansehra
Current Service Area: At present, the Ahsas Access to Justice Program is available for persons with disabilities in District Mansehra.
The long-term vision is to expand the program in phases to reach persons with disabilities across Pakistan.
An online contact and complaint system is currently under development and will be launched soon. This system is intended to make it easier for persons with disabilities and their families to contact the program and seek information or legal assistance.
